Times of school Day

School starts at 8.55am and finishes at 3.30pm.

Total time each week is 32 hours and 55 minutes each week. 

School gates open at 8:40am.

From this time, children must remain in the playground until the classrooms open at 8:45am. - Monday to Thursday for a soft start. On Friday the children will go into school at 8.55 am. as staff will be attending a morning briefing. Please be mindful, that there are no staff on the playground to supervise your children. 

The school day starts at 8:55am. with morning registration. Children should be in their classroom ready to be registered at 8.55 am. Children arriving after this time will be marked as late. Registers close at 9:05am; children that arrive after this time will be marked as late on the register.

10.20 - 10.35 Year 1 & 2 and Year 3 & 4 Playtime

11.00 - 11.15 Year 5 & 6 Playtime

12.00 - 1.00 p.m. Lunch (Reception & Years 1-4)

12.25 - 1.25 p.m. Lunch (Years 5 & 6)

3.30 p.m. End of school day 

School ends at 3:30pm.

Nursery

Morning Session 8.30am - 11.30am

Afternoon Session 12.30pm - 3.30pm

Please ensure that your child is here on time and is ready for their learning.

Regular attendance is vital and is monitored and reported on according to statutory regulations.

The Department for Education has set a target of at least 96% attendance for each child and we expect every child to achieve at least that from Nursery onwards.

Attendance and attainment are directly related and therefore it is essential that children should attend school every day.

Punctuality 

It is very important for children to be punctual. Entrance into the school playgrounds will close at 8.54 this gives children time to enter the building for the start of registration at 8.55. Any child arriving after this time will need to enter the building via the school office. 

Lateness disrupts the start of the day for your child and the other children in the class. If you arrive late to school with your child you must report to the school office where your child will be marked in. Children must be collected promptly at the end of the school day.

New School Day times January 2027

From January 2027, the school day would be structured as follows:

• 8:40am – School gates open.
• 8:45am – Classroom doors open and registration begins promptly.
• 45-minute lunchtime.
• 3:15pm – End of the school day.
•  

The current soft start, which allows pupils to arrive between 8:45am and 8:55am, would cease. From January 2027, all pupils will be expected to arrive in time for registration at 8:45am, ensuring a calm, purposeful and consistent start to every day.

This revised timetable will provide a 32.5-hour school week, fully meeting the Department for Education's expectation for mainstream state-funded schools.
