Parent Support Advisor

Supporting our families

At Greenwood Primary School, we understand that family life can sometimes be challenging. Every family needs a little extra support at times, and we want to ensure that all our families feel listened to, supported and able to access the help they need.

Our Parent Support Advisor is available to offer advice, guidance and practical support to parents and carers. We work in partnership with families to help overcome challenges, promote children's wellbeing and ensure that every child has the best possible opportunities to thrive.

You do not need to face difficulties alone. If you have a concern or would like some advice, please speak to a member of our team.

How can our Parent Support Advisor help?

Our Parent Support Advisor can offer support and guidance with a range of issues, including:

  • Parenting and behaviour: Strategies for managing behaviour, establishing routines, setting boundaries and responding to children's emotional needs.

  • Emotional wellbeing: Supporting children who may be experiencing anxiety, friendship difficulties, changes at home or other emotional challenges.

  • School attendance and punctuality: Helping families overcome barriers to regular attendance and develop positive routines.

  • Family difficulties: Signposting to appropriate services during periods of change, family conflict or other challenging circumstances.

  • Financial difficulties: Helping families access advice and support relating to benefits, household bills, food and essential items.

  • Housing and practical support: Signposting families to relevant organisations for advice about housing, debt and other practical concerns.

  • Special educational needs and disabilities (SEND): Helping parents find information, advice and services to support children with additional needs.

  • Accessing local services: Helping families identify appropriate community resources, parenting programmes and specialist support.

Every family's circumstances are different. We aim to work alongside parents and carers in a supportive, respectful and non-judgmental way.

How to access support

If you would like advice or support, please contact the school office and ask to speak to our Parent Support Advisor, Samantha Salama. We will listen to your concerns, discuss how we may be able to help and, where appropriate, support you in accessing other services.

As a school, we believe that working in partnership with families is essential to ensuring that every child feels safe, supported and ready to learn.

Please remember: asking for help is a positive step, and we are here to support you.
