Registration for free meals could also raise an extra £1,320 for our school to fund extra support and additional staff. This additional money is available from central Government for every child whose parent is receiving one of these benefits listed above.

Allergy Safety
New statutory guidance on allergy safety in schools, commonly known as Benedict’s Law, comes into effect in England from September 2026. The guidance strengthens schools’ responsibilities for allergy awareness, prevention, emergency preparedness and the support of children with allergies. It also emphasises the importance of working in partnership with families to reduce the risk of allergic reactions.
At Greenwood, we are committed to ensuring that every child can enjoy school life safely and confidently. Allergy safety is a shared responsibility, and we ask all families to help us by following our school guidance on food.
Greenwood is a nut-free school. This means that children must not bring nuts or products containing nuts into school. We appreciate that some products may not immediately appear to contain nuts, so please check the ingredients carefully. Nutella, for example, must not be included in packed lunches or brought into school. This policy is an important part of our approach to reducing the risk of exposure to nuts. However, it is also important to remember that any food can cause an allergic reaction, and a nut-free policy cannot remove every allergy risk. This is why we ask all families to follow our food guidance carefully and help us maintain an allergy-aware environment.
Please ensure that the school is informed of any allergies your child has and that we have up-to-date information about their needs. If your child has a serious allergy, please speak to the school office or your child’s class teacher so that we can ensure the appropriate arrangements are in place.
Thank you for your continued support and cooperation. By working together and following our school guidance, we can help make lunchtime a safe and enjoyable experience for every child at Greenwood.
Thank you for helping us to keep our children safe.
