Wellbeing

At Greenwood, we believe wellbeing is the foundation for success. We are committed to supporting both our children and staff to feel safe, valued and able to thrive. Our whole-school approach ensures emotional health and mental wellbeing are prioritised alongside academic achievement.

Leadership for Wellbeing

Wellbeing is led strategically across the school by Mrs Tatla, our Assistant Headteacher (AHT) for Personal Development, Behaviour and Wellbeing. This role ensures:

  • A clear whole-school wellbeing strategy
  • High-quality pastoral care and emotional support
  • Strong partnerships with external agencies such as Place2Be
  • Consistent therapeutic and restorative behaviour approaches
  • Targeted support for vulnerable pupils
  • Close communication with families to ensure the right support is in place

We are also proud to have Mr Rohan, our Learning Behaviour Mentor (LBM), who plays a key role in supporting children’s wellbeing on a daily basis. Mr Rohan:

  • Works one-to-one with pupils who need additional emotional or behavioural support
  • Supports children with emotional regulation and social skills
  • Provides a safe, trusted space for children to talk
  • Works closely with class teachers, the SENCO and families
  • Helps children develop confidence, resilience and positive coping strategies

Alongside this, Miss Samantha, our Parent Support Advisor (PSA) plays a vital role in supporting families and strengthening home-school relationships. Our PSA:

  • Works closely with parents and carers to offer practical and emotional support
  • Supports families with attendance, routines and behaviour
  • Signposts families to external services and community support
  • Helps families access financial, housing or wellbeing advice
  • Acts as a trusted link between home and school

Together, our pastoral team ensures children and families feel supported, listened to and valued.

Place2Be

We are proud to work in partnership with Place2Be, a leading children’s mental health charity, to support the emotional wellbeing of our pupils.

Place2Be provides:

  • One-to-one counselling for children who need additional emotional support
  • Group sessions focusing on friendships, self-esteem and managing emotions
  • Drop-in support where children can talk about worries in a safe, nurturing environment
  • Support and advice for parents and carers
  • Training and guidance for staff to strengthen our wellbeing provision

Through Place2Be, children are given a trusted space to talk, helping them develop coping strategies, resilience and confidence.
